Local council tax support scheme

North Somerset Council Local Council Tax Support Scheme which covers the support provided to working age people who are unable to pay their council tax was debated prior to being set for 2016/17.

An amendment was proposed by the Opposition groups who worked together with Citizens Advice North Somerset to present evidence of the negative impact of the scheme on low income families. They asked for an urgent review of the scheme. The amendment was not accepted - with Conservative Executive Member David Pasley saying there was "no point" in considering the needs of low income families.
