Business Rates Relief Petition

Back Lib Dem councillors in their local campaign to save our hospitality and High Street businesses

I call on the Government to reverse its disastrous decision to cut business rates relief for hospitality and High Street businesses this spring. Many of our local pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, entertainment venues and High Street businesses are already struggling with spiralling costs; removing the current relief will mean their business rates will rocket by 40% or more.

These businesses don’t just contribute billions to our economy - they create local jobs, support vibrant town centres, and bring people together. They are the backbone of our communities.

But some will be forced to close, and these vital services will be lost. The Government must act to protect our high streets and reconsider this damaging tax.
