New branch of Acorn UK

A new branch of ACORN UK in Weston-super-Mare has been launched to support and advise tenants of private properties in Weston.

ACORN UK was started in Easton, Bristol about two years ago by two people who were concerned with the poor quality of rented properties in the area. By knocking on doors and taking stands at events (e.g. Banksy's Dismaland) they have grown exponentially and are now represented on Bristol Homes Board. They were instrumental in bringing in the selective licensing scheme in Easton and are signing up landlords/letting agents to their Ethical Lettings Charter. Other towns and cities (e.g. Newcastle & London) have started ACORN branches tackling housing and other injustice in the community and they are now pushing to go fully national.

ACORN Weston-super-Mare started a couple of weeks ago.
