Liberal Democrat Councillors in North Somerset are calling for lateral flow device tests (LFDs) to continue to be provided to the public free of charge. Following yesterday's violent scenes in Westminster, LibDem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Weston and the Villages, Cllr Patrick Keating, has today called on Weston's Tory MP to take a stand for decency in public life and to call on the Prime Minster to withdraw his false remarks about the leader of the opposition.
It's official: North Somerset residents are the best in the South West - and the seventh-best in England - for recycling! The latest government figures for 2020/2021 show that 60.4% of household waste is recycled - ranking North Somerset the best in the region and up two places to seventh-best in the whole of England. A big thank you to all our local residents and to our waste and recycling crews for helping make this happen. Not only is this great for our environment, but it cuts the cost of waste disposal too. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day all fall at the weekend so there is no change to recycling and waste collection days. You should put their recycling boxes and bins out on their usual collection days. Collection days can be checked on the council's website using the following link: www.n-somerset.gov.uk/calendar At this time of year lots of extra waste and recycling can be generated, so please try to think about how you can minimise your waste and recycle more. Don't forget that elections in Weston Central Ward are always closely fought between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives.
