Liberal Democrat Councillors in North Somerset are calling for lateral flow device tests (LFDs) to continue to be provided to the public free of charge. Councillor Mike Bell, North Somerset Council's Deputy Leader and executive member for public health, warned that the introduction of charges - reported to be under consideration by the government - would risk further damaging the economy and pushing costs onto those least able to pay.

It's official: North Somerset residents are the best in the South West - and the seventh-best in England - for recycling! The latest government figures for 2020/2021 show that 60.4% of household waste is recycled - ranking North Somerset the best in the region and up two places to seventh-best in the whole of England. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day all fall at the weekend so there is no change to recycling and waste collection days.
