A £40.4 MILLION support fund for small businesses in North Somerset has now been fully launched, with the support of the Liberal Democrat Council Group.
North Somerset Council is appealing to the Government for additional personal protective equipment (PPE), and to local businesses for any spare PPE, so it can be used by the authority's care workers.
North Somerset Councillors met online on April 7th to discuss the Councils response to Coronavirus and to receive an update from officers on the measures being put in place to tackle the crisis in North Somerset. Lib Dem councillors Caroline Cherry, Patrick Keating, Huw James, Geoffery Richardson and Wendy Greggs led the constructive scrutiny session, asking questions on PPE, Special Schools, Accessible Communication, and Business Support. The key points of the session were: 🏠 Stay at home and keep your distance. Please please stay at home this weekend and remember to keep your distance when exercising. Cyclists are asked to give pedestrians and dog walkers lots of room. People should only be exercising from home, not driving to exercise. Exercising doesn't include picnics or sunbathing!

The latest figures on NHS vacancies reveal that there were 3,262 vacancies for nurses in the NHS in the South West of England in July to September 2019. This means that 10.5% of posts were unfilled, showing the NHS staff shortage crisis is getting worse.
