The Impact of £60m a year for grammar school expansion?

LibDems are fighting against the potential loss of our most academically able children to expanding Grammer Schools. Bristol is among the most divided cities in the country. It has the second highest income per capita in the country, and pockets of poverty in the housing estates south of the river all the way to Weston-super-Mare. It is one of only a handful of areas outside the south-east where independent schools outnumber secondary schools and it is going to get a massive cash injection.

Street Pastors

Lib Dems support 10 years of Weston Street Pastors

Celebrating 10 years of volunteering Weston Street Pastors attended a service led by Rev Les Isaac, the national founder of the movement. Street Pastors continue to support the town to achieve Purple Flag status. Weston gained this prestigous award in February this year in recognition of the provision of a vibrant mix of night-time entertainment while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents following a joint submission led by North Somerset Council, Avon and Somerset Police and the Weston Business Improvement District. Purple Flag assessors visited the town on a Saturday night in November. Their report rated Weston as "above standard" in all the criteria needed to gain Purple Flag status.
